The hydraulic shearing tool is a three-function hydraulic shearer designed to cut reinforced concrete piling with the appropriate jigs, if required. The three functions are: lock, open and close (gate), open and close (blade), and advance and retract. This shear has the same design specifications as the 48-inch shear, with the capability to cut the larger 54-inch hollow spun piling.
 
The shear has three 12-inch-ID hydraulic cylinders capable of exerting a maximum working force of 1.5 million pounds of force at a maximum working pressure of 5,000 PSI. The cylinders have subsea seals rated at a depth of 1000 feet. The hydraulic cylinder uses biodegradable oil (Chevron Clarity 46) or equivalent.
 
The cutting blade is designed with a center point to initially penetrate the pipe or concrete piling and to complete the cut at the end of the stroke. The shear is capable of cutting reinforced concrete piling from 18 inches to 54 inches within 120 seconds.
 
This hydraulic shear requires a power pack capable of producing 150 horsepower from a diesel engine driving a pressure-compensating hydraulic oil pump. Shear Power Services International, LLC offers these units as part of its tumkey pricing packages.
 
The GPM flow rate for the three-function hydraulic control valve assembly associated with the hydraulic power pack requires 60 GPM for the blade and 25 GPM for both the gate and lock.
