The hydraulic shearing tool is a three-function hydraulic shearer designed to cut production pipe and tubing with the built-in jig. The three functions are lock, open and close (gate), open and close (blade), advance and retract.
The shear has one 10-inch ID hydraulic cylinders capable of exerting a maximum working force of 400,000 pounds of force at a maximum working pressure of 5000 PSI. The cylinders have subsea seals rated at a depth of 1000 feet. The hydraulic cylinder uses a biodegradable oil.
The cutting blade is designed with a centre-point to initially penetrate the pipe, as well as complete the cut at the end of the stroke. The shear can cut production tubing from 1-inch to 9 5/8- inch in 15 seconds, with a maximum wall thickness of 5/8-inch.
The hydraulic power pack requires a 100-horsepower Tier 4 diesel engine driving or a 25-horsepower electric motor driving a load sensing, pressure-compensating hydraulic oil pump.
The GPM flow rate of the three-function valve assembly requires 10 GPM for the blade and 2 GPM for both the gate and lock.
